When you are required to redeem an additional Publisher Access code onto a specific website to access the courseware that your material contains, you will first need to reveal your Publisher code. Publisher Access codes are also commonly referred to as:
- 2 Step Code
- Access code
- Redemption Code
- License Key
- Registration Code
- Activation Code
- Product Key
- eResource
NOTE: This page is for redeeming / redemption issues with Publisher Access codes, not VitalSource Redemption codes. As a general rule, VitalSource Codes will either be 12 or 20 characters with no dashes in the code.
Issues with Publisher Access code redemption (2 STEP CODE)
You can receive a Publisher Courseware (2 step code) via digital form from your VitalSource Bookshelf or a printed (hardcopy) access card that may also come in a bundle package. For the Printed Access card option, you will want to careful follow the steps listed on the card and or from your instructor. Examples below:

Redemption of the digital (VitalSource) Publisher Courseware code :
After you have either obtained your Courseware (2 step code) from your VitalSource Bookshelf account and / or from your Printed Access card you will follow the steps to redeem it per the directions in Bookshelf or from the printed access card.
***You may need to first register and create an account on the Publisher Courseware Site. They may also have secondary steps when redeeming on a Learning Management System (LMS) such as Canvas, Blackboard etc. ***

Troubleshooting Steps for issues when Redeeming your Courseware 2 Step Code

Check to see if a Course Key is required.
- This can be found on your receipt and / or only obtained from your instructor.

Grab a screenshot of any errors the may show, below is a helpful link on how to do that:
- How to Take a Screenshot - the screenshot should include the whole screen which needs to include the top URL / Website address you are using to redeem the code

Check your Web Browser version so that you are using the newest version available:
- To check your web browser version, open your browser, navigate to the menu settings (usually located in the top right corner), and select "Help" or "About" - this will display a pop-up window showing your current browser version number; for example, in Google Chrome, click the three dots, then select "Help" > "About Google Chrome" to see your version.
- Also attempt another web browser if possible.

Does the error page note a support link and / or a contact us option for the Publisher?
- Quickest option: directly contact the Publisher Support that shows on the site with the above information

If the Publisher Support agent states to reach back out to your bookstore:
- Obtain the support transcript and / or a ticket (Case) number you received from the Publisher Support Assistance. This will help your TextbookX Online Bookstore agent work with our internal team on a resolution.
Errors / Issues you may see :

Code shows "already redeemed or invalid" - be sure you are not using the wrong courseware code or one that you previously redeemed
- Did you possibly redeem the code using another email address? - Publisher support can confirm.
- Code "94": "Cannot Determine the Product" - Might occur if the system cannot identify the product associated with your code. Publisher Support can confirm,
- Code"110": An error related to processing the code. Publisher Support can further assist.
- Code "114": "Unable to process" - Could indicate an issue with the code format or server processing - Check with Publisher Support for processing assistance.

Code "84" or "7" means you are attempting to redeem a code not lined up to the item your professor set up for the class. -
- Check to be sure you have selected the correct course information and section number. You can find this info normally at the top right of your screen.
- Check with your instructor if it is correct to confirm.

Code "500" try refreshing the page and clearing your browser cache -
- Attempt using another browser, be sure both are running the newest version
- Contact Publisher for further review.
- Code "503" server temporarily unavailable - error with the actual publisher site, please contact them directly.

Is the product for a McGraw Hill Connect code?
- You need to be sure you are using the special link provided by the professor. Only your professor can provide this link. Sometimes additional course set may be needed.
